#F4358 Rare Giraffe Piano


Herman Franz Teupe (Frank Teupe) immigrated from Germany to the United States in the 1800’s and became the director of Web & Co, in Louisville Ky. He opened his own piano and organ business in 1883. He designed and built this signature ‘Giraffe  Piano’ in the third quarter of the 19th century–This is 1 of 7 known to have been made.  The craftsmanship of this highly carved, scrollwork Walnut masterpiece is unsurpassed.  The upright grand was designed to assemble & disassemble easily for moving.  All the ivory keys are original, the cabinetwork has been lightly restored and the inner mechanisms reworked, restrung & tuned.  Comes complete with ornate keyboard cover key.
